The production history of Wandi Power can be traced back to 1929, when 15 internal combustion engine factories were established in Wuxi, marking the beginning of an industry. These factories were small in scale and were mainly focused on the production of simple diesel engines for agricultural applications.
In 1956, there was a merger in which 60 of the private enterprises in Wuxi combined into the Public-Private Joint Venture Wuxi Power Machine Factory.
In 1964, the Public-Private Joint Venture Wuxi Power Machine Factory had fixed assets of 12.81 million yuan, 1832 employees, industrial valve of 11.24 million yuan, an expanded factory area of 73000 square meters and profit of 2.56 million yuan (after tax).
During this period, the factory had undergone several major changes. Wuxi Power Machine Factory was merged with the Wuxi Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing School. The original Supercharger Workshop of Wuxi Diesel Engine Factory joined the Wuxi Power factory, making Wuxi Power the largest domestic supercharger manufacturing base. The Company produced 12V135 diesel engines, S792 aero-engines, and large-power turbine blades at that time. By the end of 1977, Wuxi Power had an annual output of 8.23 million yuan with more than 2,700 employees producing diesel engines, superchargers, generator sets, aero-engines, high-power turbine blades, and gasoline engines.
After another enterprise reorganization, Wuxi Power now had 1300 employees with 753 machines in the factory for the production of diesel engines and superchargers. Wuxi Power then made major investments in superchargers and introduced new technologies. After continuous efforts, the company expanded to over 2600 employees with an output of more than 60 million yuan.
